Police hunts Qaeda financier on FBI information

ISLAMABAD: Following information by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) local police is hunting for an Al Qaeda activist Muhammad Ashraf Qazi, for financing Al Qaeda militants.

The FBI informed the local government about Muhammad Ashraf Qazi, currently residing in sector I-9/3 of the federal capital, a close friend of Sheikh Muhammad Hassan, Osama’s first cousin.

Muhammad Ashraf is running a religious madarassa in interior Punjab and is the one of the main sponsors of Al Qaeda activities, sources said. He drew a large sum of money from the Citi Bank, Islamabad, on behalf of Sheikh Ahmed Hassan, sources added.

According to information received from Citi Bank, Muhammad Ashraf belongs to the Gujrat district and is a civil Engineer by profession.
