Replace Jamali with someone more loyal: PML-QA VP

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-QA) Vice President Syed Kabir Ali Wasti has written a letter to President General Pervez Musharraf requesting him to replace Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali with a person more loyal to him.

Mr Wasti told a group of journalists at a dinner on Saturday that he had warned the president that Mr Jamali would turn against him as soon as he removes his uniform by December 2004. “You need a team of more loyal persons,” he said in the letter.

He said that a close aide of Mr Jamali, Khawaja Tariq Rahim, has advised him to keep showing his loyalty to the president until December 2004. “After that period, Jamali will be in position to remove the 17th Amendment from the Constitution, which empowers the president to dissolve the National Assembly,” he added.
