Singh’s Kashmir remarks cautious, says Mushahid
ISLAMABAD: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s statement that the Kashmir dispute could be solved within the Indian Constitution was a political and cautious one, reiterating the conventional Indian stance, said Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, the Pakistan Muslim League secretary general on Wednesday.
Singh said earlier on Wednesday that India would not accept a solution to the dispute that involved the redrawing of borders.
Mushahid said that the Indian prime minister’s statement should not be taken as a policy statement since Mr Singh had signed a joint declaration with Pakistan on September 24 where he had pledged to explore all possible ways to resolve the Kashmir issue. online
