Scholars blast Bush’s Iraq policy

WASHINGTON: President George W Bush’s decision to invade Iraq has harmed the war against ‘Islamic extremists’, according to hundreds of foreign policy scholars who signed an open letter condemning Bush’s international policies.

“We judge that the current American policy centered around the war in Iraq is the most misguided one since the Vietnam period, one which harms the cause of the struggle against extreme Islamist terrorists,” said the letter signed by over 725 national security and international politics experts.

“The results of this policy have been overwhelmingly negative for US interests,” said the group calling itself “Security Scholars for a Sensible Foreign Policy”. afp
