City Games to be held from Nov 20-Dec 25
Staff Report
KARACHI: Preparations are underway for City Games that would take place from November 20 to December 25 and would involve thousands of athletes, disclosed the chairman of the organizing committee, Misbahuddin Fareed, on Sunday.
The city games have been delayed for several years but this year City Nazim Naimutullah Khan issued orders that they must be organized at any cost so that there is entertainment for the city’s youth. Mr Fareed, who is a senior official of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and project manager of the KIII project, was appointed chairman of the organizing committee.
The organizing committee expects that approximately fifteen thousand athletes, both men and women, would take part in the games, which would be organized in two phases. The first phase would take place at the Union Council (UC) level and athletes from the town level would participate in the second phase. Games at the union council level would take place from November 20. In the second phase athletes that qualified from the UC level would be eligible to participate at the town level. There are 18 towns in Karachi.
