He said the federal government had launched a Rs 2.83 billion project to develop computerised machine-readable passports and machine-readable visas to replace the existing system in October 2004.

APP adds: The NA was informed that the president’s visits to the United States, Britain, Germany and France helped improve Pakistan’s relations with those countries.

In a written reply to a question, the foreign minister said there was a complete unanimity of views between Pakistan and the United States on terrorism. He said the president stated Pakistan’s position on various international issues including Kashmir and ties between India and Pakistan during President Musharraf’s talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Mr Kasuri said during the president’s visit to Germany, the host government announced to lift an embargo on non-lethal defence equipment and spare parts which was in place since May 1998.
