44 Islamabad housing societies without NOCs

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed on Friday that 44 housing societies were operating in the federal capital’s limits without obtaining no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
Federal Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat submitted a written statement in reply to a question by PPPP MNA Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari. The minister informed the house that the CDA had not allowed these housing societies to develop and sell plots.
The housing societies operating without NOCs are: Ahbab Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Cabinet Division Employees Housing Society, EME Cooperative Housing Society, Engineers Cooperative Housing Society, Federal Bank Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Federation of Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Islamic University Staff Cooperative Housing Society, J&K Cooperative Housing Society, Ministry of Commerce Cooperative Housing Society, Ministry of Interior Cooperative Housing Society, Multi-Professionals Cooperative Housing Society, National Police Foundation Cooperative Housing Society, NIH Foundation Cooperative Housing Society, OGDC Officers Foundation Cooperative Housing Society, Pakistan Medical Employees Foundation Cooperative Housing Society, Services Employees Foundation Cooperative Housing Society, PARC Employees Foundation Cooperative Housing Society, Veterans Foundation Cooperative Housing Society, WAPDA Employees Foundation Cooperative Housing Society, National Institute of Electronics Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Baltistan Cooperative Housing Society, Christian Multipurpose Cooperative Housing Society, Islamabad Cooperative Housing Society, Progressive Citizens Cooperative Housing Society, Accounts Group Officers Cooperative Housing Society, CBR Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Civilians Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Doctors Cooperative Housing Society, Federal Shariat Court Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Federal Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Foreign Office Employees Cooperative Housing Society, IB Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Islamabad Old Citizens Cooperative Housing Society, Manpower & Workers Cooperative Housing Society, KRL Employees Cooperative Housing Society, ICT Employees Cooperative Housing Society, PWD Employees Cooperative Housing Society, PAEC Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Pakistan Education Foundation Ltd, Pakistan, Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Quami Assembly Secretariat Employees Cooperative Housing Society, T&T Employees Cooperative Housing Society, University Grants Commission Cooperative Housing Society and Work No Word Cooperative Housing Society.
To another question, the interior minister informed the house that the possession of 850 plots allocated to CDA employees in sector I/11 had not been delivered due to the land’s occupation by the locals and Afghan refugees. He said the federal government had launched a Rs 2.83 billion project to develop computerised machine-readable passports and machine-readable visas to replace the existing system in October 2004.
APP adds: The NA was informed that the president’s visits to the United States, Britain, Germany and France helped improve Pakistan’s relations with those countries.
In a written reply to a question, the foreign minister said there was a complete unanimity of views between Pakistan and the United States on terrorism. He said the president stated Pakistan’s position on various international issues including Kashmir and ties between India and Pakistan during President Musharraf’s talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Mr Kasuri said during the president’s visit to Germany, the host government announced to lift an embargo on non-lethal defence equipment and spare parts which was in place since May 1998.
