Amjad Iqbal, Asad Munir’s papers rejected
LAHORE: The nomination papers filed by Mian Amjad Iqbal, the younger brother of Punjab Tourism Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, and Mian Asad Munir, the son of Pakistan Muslim League (Lahore) President Mian Munir, were rejected, Punjab Election Commission (PEC) officials told Daily Times on Friday.
Officials said that both Iqbal and Munir filed nomination papers for peasant seats, however objections had been raised that both belonged to rich families and did not qualify as peasants. They said that Iqbal and Munir could not prove themselves as peasants over the objection. They added that objections were also raised against the nomination papers filed by Pakistan People’s Party-backed candidate Dr Akram Zahid Nat for Nishtar Town nazim. staff report
