Elahi, Shujaat and Soomro discuss national issues

LAHORE: Acting President Muhammadmian Soomro met Pakistan Muslim League President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Friday and discussed national issues, and development projects in Punjab.

Shujaat said all issues regarding the local council elections were being resolved with consultation and there was complete harmony between assembly members and district government candidates. He added that the federal and provincial governments were providing justice to the people effectively.

Elahi said the first two phases of the local council elections had been completed in a peaceful manner and the new district governments would resolve outstanding issues at grass-roots level. He said the devolution of power to subordinates had brought relief to people. He added that the Punjab Assembly had made legislation in this regard and its members were playing their parliamentary role by taking keen interest in all stages.
