Siraj stopped from entering Nowshera

NOWSHERA: A district and sessions judge has barred NWFP senior minister Sirajul Haq from entering Nowshera district for three days till Thursday after dismissing an election petition alleging his interference in the local council elections.

Haq reacted calmly to the ban on his entry into Nowshera, but said he did not “understand” the verdict when the court dismissed the petition. The minister was issued a bailable arrest warrant on Monday by District Returning Officer Salim Khan Minakhel after he did failed to appear to defend the charge filed by the contesting candidate, Niaz Mohammad. Judge Salim Khan dismissed the writ petition against the minister and stated that the minister wasn’t violating the election code of conduct. staff report
