Girl gunned down in honour killing

LAHORE: A teenage girl was gunned down by her brother early on Tuesday in Badamibagh police jurisdiction for allegedly having an affair with her cousin. Police said that Muhammad Afzal, a resident of Data Nagar, was working abroad. His wife Nazo lived in his house along with their son Asif and daughter Sumera. Asif suspected his sister of having an affair with their cousin Zeeshan and the two often quarrelled over it. Early on Tuesday, Asif found Sumera in a compromising position with Zeeshan. Enraged, he shot Sumera in the head and fled. Nazo found Sumera lying in a pool of blood, and accompanied by Zeeshan, rushed Sumera to Mayo Hospital, where she died after treatment. At first, Nazo and Zeeshan told police that robbers entered their house and shot Sumera when she resisted. However, later they approached Badamibagh police to register a case against Asif, saying that Asif had shot Sumera over a monetary dispute. staff report
