7 cops booked for helping PO escape

GUJRAT: The Gujrat DPO registered cases against seven policemen and sent them to jail on Wednesday for helping a proclaimed offender escape from Kakrali Police Station.

Kakrali police has arrested a notorious proclaimed offender, Allah Dittah, alias Arshad, wanted in a number of dacoities, from village Ladian. SHO Tanveer Ahmed and other police officials took the outlaw to an unnamed place from where he escaped. On receiving this information, DPO Raja Munawar Hussain along with Headquarters’ SP Javed Iqbal Shami visited the police station and suspended the SHO and six other policemen – SI Mohammad Irshad, ASI Sajjad Anwar, ASI Sabir Hussain and constables Abdul Hameed, Ahmed Khan and Hafeez Baig. The policemen have been taken to the Kakrali Police Station and are being questioned.
