Parliament threatened with terrorist attacks: Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday said the parliament had received terrorist threats and that was why security inside and outside Parliament House had been increased. Justifying the strict security measures, Sheikh Rashid said the steps had been taken to protect the lives of parliamentarians, Parliament House and to ensure law and order. However, opposition parties rejected his claims, saying that security had been increased due to President Musharraf’s visit to his chambers to meet treasury members. staff report
