By Shoaib Ahmed
LAHORE: Depilex Vision will hold a fashion week in Karachi at the end of next month, Muhammad Ali, Depilex Vision country manager, told Daily Times on Monday. “A nation-wide competition will also be held for models, actors and photographers.”
“Designers and models from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, France, UAE and Italy will participate in the event,” he said. “Each country will send one model and one designer to Pakistan.”
“After the fashion event in Karachi, another will be held in Islamabad,” he said. “We selected Karachi for our first event because we feel there are many international buyers in the city. Lahore, on the other hand, has already hosted several international fashion events recently.”
Ali said that beauticians, jewellery designers and lifestyle-related people would attend the show. “Preparations are in full swing for the first show.”
“Depilex Vision will award the best candidate from modelling, acting and photography in two categories – amateur and professional. We will start accepting applications in the last week of May,” he said. “The competition is being organised by Depilex Vision’s Performing Arts College.”
“The two semi-finals of the competition will be held at Karachi and Islamabad. The final will take place in Lahore,” he said.
He said that Depilex Vision wanted to show the “softer side of Pakistan” by organising a fashion week and promoting modelling, acting and photography by holding competitions.
“This is the need of the day. Depilex Vision staged Anarkali in Norway and London to boost Pakistan’s image.”Ali said that soon Depilex Vision would hold dress exhibitions at different major cities of country, “not only to promote fashion, but to provide people with economical and fashionable dresses”.
Pakistani models Amna Haq, Natasha Hussain, Veneeza Ahmed and Iman Ali will be some of the model participating in the fashion week.
