502 plots allotted to govt officers under discretionary quota

ISLAMABAD: A total of 502 plots were allotted to senior and junior government officials in the Federal Government Employees Housing Scheme (Phase-I) in Islamabad on nominal charges under a discretionary quota in 1988.
This information was provided to the Senate on Tuesday by Syed Safwanullah, minister for housing and works, in response to a question by Senator Murad Ali Shah who wanted details, including the names and posts of those who were allotted plots, their addresses and the prices of the allotted plots. The reply did not mention plot sizes or the allotment authority, however.
Plots of various sizes were allotted to bureaucrats in sectors I-8/2, I-8/3, I-8/4, G-11/1 and G-11/2 at costs of Rs150,000, Rs 88,888, Rs 77,778, Rs 50,000 and Rs 37,420, respectively. The current price of a 500 square yards plot in I-8/3 and G-11/1 is more than Rs 10 million, according to a property dealer.
Forty-two plots were allotted in I-8/2, 151in I-8/3, 130 in I-8/4, 52 in G-11/1 and 127 in G-11/2. Officials who were allotted the plots range from section officers to federal secretaries.
Senior officials to whom plots were allotted in various sectors at a cost of Rs 150,000 each are:
