EC allocates grant for human rights, democratisation

ISLAMABAD: The Delegation of the European Commission (EC) to Pakistan has announced that it will award 461,648 Euros to five local non-government organisations (NGOs) under the European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) micro-projects programme.

This was announced in a ceremony held at a local hotel. The representatives of five NGOs, BEFAR, Centre for Civic Education, Consumer’s Right Commission Pakistan (CRCP), Islamic Relief and Khwendo Kor were also present at the occasion. Ambassador Ilkka Uusitalo, head of the delegation of the EC, said: “The European Union strongly believes in the vital role played by the civil society in spreading awareness, improving human rights conditions in helping the democratic process.” online
