‘Progress linked to highways’
ISLAMABAD: Federal Communication Minister Ahmed Ali said that highways in Sindh should be completed on a priority basis because national economic and industrial activities were linked to the Karachi Port and Port Qasim.
Presiding over a briefing session held at the National Highway Authority (NHA) head office on Thursday, he said. He said the highway corridors were imperative for all three ports and that the Karachi-Hyderabad section needed quick improvements. He said alignment of the Faisalabad-Multan Motorway was crucial to keep it straight and short and the establishment of a modern highway network was among the government’s priorities. “The Karachi-Lahore-Peshawar National Highway is the main artery and centre of socio-economic activities,” Mr Ali said. —Staff Report
