Exhibition of iron, jewel furniture today
Staff Report
LAHORE- A three-day exhibition of wrought iron furniture by the interior designer Tehmina will open at Awan-e-Iqbal on Friday (today).
The furniture on display is part of the Export Promotion Bureau’s Wexnet 2003 trade fair. The exhibition will feature a wide range of wrought iron work including tables, garden furniture, chairs, planters, sofas, lights, lamp stands, candle stands, chandeliers, beds, windows stools and CD racks.
Ms Tehmina has already exhibited her artwork at Sharjah trade fair and later in Karachi and is a popular designer.
The interior designer said wrought-iron products have become popular in the country because they are affordable. Ms Tehmina said that her designs were indigenous and placing precious stones in various items is her specialty. “The contrast of solid iron with that of delicate stone makes it more charming and striking,” she said. The designer uses precious stones imported from Afghanistan and those jewels are also used in iron mirrors, beds, and various other items.
