CM inaugurates Emergency Block at Jinnah Hospital

LAHORE: A modern system of emergency healthcare has been introduced in 11 teaching hospitals of the province and latest healthcare facilities are being provided to patients free-of-cost at district, tehsil and union council levels, said Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
He was talking to reporters at the inauguration of an emergency block at Jinnah Hospital on Monday. He said the health sector reforms programme that had been initiated in the province would cost Rs 6 billion.
Elahi said that providing timely medical facilities in emergency wards was an important feature of the health policy. He said the 100-bed emergency ward established at Jinnah Hospital had cost Rs 80 million and facilities including ultra-sound, X-ray and free medicines would be provided there. He said the treatment provided at the emergency ward would be monitored vigilantly and special measures would be taken to treat people injured in accidents. Health Minister Dr Tahir Ali Javed, Health Secretary Rashida Malik, Allama Iqbal Medical College Principal Dr Sibtul Hassan and Jinnah Hospital MS Dr Zahid Pervaiz were present on the occasion.
