NWFP opposition withdraws PA session requisition
Staff Report
PESHAWAR: Opposition parties in the NWFP Assembly have withdrawn their requisition for the assembly session after Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani assured them that the Annual Development Fund (ADP) for opposition members would be increased.
“We had filed a requisition for a session to discuss the opposition members’ suggestions for the ADP in the next budget but the requisition was withdrawn on Saturday after the chief minister assured us that development funds for each member will be increased from five million rupees to Rs 10 million,” said Anwar Kamal Marwat, PML-N parliamentary leader. Marwat said that one-fourth members of the assembly could file the requisition for a session or withdraw it if they wanted to.
However, a member of the MMA told Daily Times that the opposition had requisitioned the session only to “blackmail” the government because all the provincial apparatus was involved in budget preparations.
