France refuses visa to Sami
ISLAMABAD: The French Embassy refused a visa to Jamiat Ulema Islam head Maulana Samiul Haq, who is also the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Religious Affairs.
The embassy refusal meant Haq could not accompany the parliamentary delegation leaving to tour European countries on Friday. JUI spokesman Maulana Yousuf Shah said Haq had wanted to go on tour with the Senate Committee on Foreign affairs, but the French embassy rejected his visa request.
The embassy did not elaborate the reason for refusing his appeal, added the spokesman. Senators Prof Khursheed, Nisar Memon, SM Zafar and Gulshan Saeed Ara left for a tour of Germany, Belgium and Ireland along with Mushahid Hussain Syed, Sardar Mahtab and Latif Khosa. Maulana Samiul Haq said he was shocked by the French government’s decision. nni
