‘President and PM don’t support arrests of workers’

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The crackdown on Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers and senseless efforts to disrupt the welcoming of Asif Ali Zardari are not supported by President General Pervez Musharraf or Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, said Syed Kabir Ali Wasti, PML vice president, on Friday.

These were the actions of a small group that felt threatened by national reconciliation efforts being pursued by the president, he said in a statement. He called for the release of all political workers and the removal of problems regarding the welcome rally for Zardari. He said the PML should compete with the PPP politically.
