City blanketed with thickest fog of season
By Amir Nafees
LAHORE: As the chilly spell showed no signs of abating, the city and other parts of the province on Wednesday evening were blanketed with thickest fog of the season.
The weather remained cloudy throughout the day and in the evening just after the sunset the city was engulfed in fog. Temperature reached one degree centigrade at evening. The fog also affected traffic and most vehicles remained off roads because of poor visibility.
A Met official said normally patches of fog clear by January 20, but as the foggy spell started a little late in this winter it might continue a little longer.
He said the fog would end with the advent of winter rains, which he forecast would start after January 20.
The doctors are of the view that although the fall in mercury was not much harmful, people should take precautionary measures against cold and other viral diseases.
