Asfandyar to file papers for Senate today
Staff Report
PESHAWAR: Former president of Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali will file his nomination papers for a Senate seat today (Thursday), party sources told Daily Times.
Mr Wali resigned from the party presidentship after losing a National Assembly seat from his ancestral constituency in Charsadda to Maulana Gohar Shah of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal.
The ANP had awarded a Senate ticket to Mr Jehangir Khan, advocate, but after the Supreme Court allowed the losers to contest the Senate elections, the party withdrew its nomination and awarded the ticket to Mr Wali.
