ATC remands HT member

PESHAWAR: Anti-terrorist Court (ATC) Judge Akhtar Zarif Khan on Wednesday remanded to police custody banned Hizbul Tahir (HT) member Mehboob Shah for five days.

Police arrested Mr Shah on Tuesday after he allegedly set up a stall of religious books at a book fair arranged by the Study Aid Project at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) campus. The police took Mr Shah to a home instead of the court. An HT member told Daily Times that Mr Shah’s lawyer was not told the charges levelled against his client so that his case could be argued.
