Interior Ministry to form HR group
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sayed Faisal Saleh Hayat said the government would constitute a group within the interior ministry to promote human rights activities. Chairing a seminar on Human Rights organised by the National Police Academy (NPA), he said the government and non-government organisations would try to remove the vices present in society today. He said police success was measured by the human rights situation. Mr Hayat also pointed out that the police have been following age-old laws which have become obsolete. To improve security work was needed to curb violence in police stations and to help them function efficiently, he said. Calling the Competitive Superior Services-qualified police officers as the cream of the country, he asked them to come up with recommendations to improve the police departments. —APP
