Amer upgrades Gulberg school
LAHORE: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has announced the raising of the level of the Government Junior Model School, F Block in Gulberg to a high school from the coming academic session.
Mian Amer announced this during a visit to the school on Wednesday. Local union council nazims including Waheed Akhter, Tariq Sana Bajwa, social worker Raja Munawar and executive district officers of the Education and Works Department were also present.
The district nazim said that the Rs 6 million construction of ten new classrooms and three science laboratories would be completed by the end of this year. He added that the necessary repair and maintenance of the building and posting of qualified teachers for fulfilling requirements of secondary education would also be done. He assured parents that directions had been given to a nearby girls school to admit female students already enrolled in the school from class one to five. Mian Amer said the boys school, spread over an area of 12 kanals, was established in 1954. He regretted that the school was in a dilapidated condition because of negligence on the part of successive governments and the indifference of the community. —Staff Report
