Maoists killed Nepalese newspaper editor
KATHMANDU: Maoist rebels were responsible for the abduction and murder of a Nepalese weekly newspaper editor last month, police sources said Wednesday.
Amar Lama, the managing editor of the news weekly Tajakhabar (Fresh News), was kidnapped in the capital Kathmandu on July 27 and killed the same day. “The investigation police officers reached their conclusion after scientific analysis of the bullets seized from the incident site,” a police source said. He said police found the gun used to kill Lama was similar to one used in several other murders in Kathmandu that were carried out by the rebels. “The same group of Maoists that killed Lama had also shot dead three people in Lalitpur, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, last year,” the source said. —AFP
