Heads of state greet president

ISLAMABAD: The heads of states of Indonesia, Egypt and Iran have greeted President Pervez Musharraf, on the 56th Independence Day of Pakistan on August 14 (today).

President Megawati Soekarnoputri of the Republic of Indonesia in her message said, “Excellency, on the happy celebration of the anniversary of the Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, I take great pleasure in conveying to you and, through you, to the government and people of Pakistan my heartiest felicitations.

Availing myself of this happy opportunity, I should like to express to you my firm determination in pursuing the endeavours to further enhancing the relations of friendship and cooperation between our two countries for the mutual benefit of our two countries for the mutual benefit of our brotherly peoples.

Whilst conveying the best wishes on behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Indonesia to the government and people of Pakistan, I renew to Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration”.

Dr N Hassan Wirajuda, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has sent a message of felicitation to Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, on the occasion of the 56th Anniversary of Pakistan Independence Day falling on 14th August 2003.

In his message the foreign minister said, “Excellency, I wish to extend to you my warmest greetings and felicitations on the occasion of the anniversary of the Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It is my fervent hope that the friendly relationship existing between Pakistan and Indonesia shall continue to strengthen in the best possible way as we are dealing with a wide range of international issues.

Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.”

President of Egypt, Mohamed Hosni Mubarak in his message to President General Pervez Musharraf said, “It is with immense pleasure that I extend to Your Excellency heartfelt congratulations on the anniversary of your brotherly country’s Independence Day.”

“I take this occasion to express best wishes for your personal health and happiness as well as for evermore prosperity and progress for our brotherly people,” he added.

Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr Atef Ebeid in his message of congratulation to Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said, “On the occasion of Pakistan Independence Day, it gives great pleasure to convey my sincere best wishes for continued progress and prosperity to Your Excellency and the brotherly people of Pakistan.”

Iranian President Mohammad Khatami on Wednesday in a message addressed to President General Pervez Musharraf congratulated him and the Pakistani nation on Pakistan’s Independence Day. He said, he prayed that the deep, historical and unbreakable bonds between our two states would continue to grow. —NNI/APP
