Government will establish strong democracy: Amir

SIALKOT: Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain has said Pakistan is our country and we want to have a stable democracy in the country. The government will establish a strong democratic system with the co-operation of opposition, while talking to the President United Labor Union (ULU) Muhammad Ashraf.
Mr Amir said, The present government has made plans for the elimination of crime, unemployment and illiteracy from the country and will provide facilities to laborers.
Women centers to be formed: Sialkot’s District Nazim Sialkot Mian Naeem Javaid, while addressing a meeting of women members of the district council on Wednesday said, “Women centers in Sialkot’s three tehsil will be established in phases. In the first phase these centers will be set up in the tehsil headquarters and in the second phase in union councils.”
Executive District Officer (EDO) Community Development Chaudhry Muhammad Afzal, EDO Literacy Muhammad Ishfaq Qureshi, District Officer (DO) Social Welfare Shaukat Javed Siddiqui, Deputy District Social Welfare Officer Shahid Bajwa and Chairperson Public Safety Commission Begum Naseem Akhtar Khawaja also attended the meeting.
One killed while crossing track: Sheikh Nazir Ahmed (70), a resident of Nizamabad, was crushed to death while crossing the railway track near vegetable market railway crossing, said sources on Thursday. Police gave the dead body of Nazir to his family after completing the necessary formalities.
Two policemen and one assailant injured: Two Policemen were injured when two people riding a motorcycle started firing on a police picket near Waan village, said sources on Thursday.
During the firing Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Tehsin Sadiq, Constable Muhammad Amjad and one assailant identified as Imran alias Manu were injured. The second escaped under the cover of darkness.
People protest against Zakir Alvi: More than 200 people took out a procession in Sialkot to protest against a Shiite zakir Fazil Hussain Alvi, said sources on Thursday. President Markazi Jamiat Ahle-i-Hadees Mualana Muhammad Siddiqui Akhtar Sakfi, Ahle-i-Sunnat Baralvi Sufi Abdul Aziz, Ahle-i-Sunnat Deo Bandi Hafiz Manzoor Ahmed and President Shabab-i-Mili Malik Nadeem led the procession.
The leaders and demonstrators while talking to newsmen said, “Zakir Alvi has given statements against God, the Holy Prophet (PUBH) in his speeches during a Majlis-i-Aza in Imambargah Addah Pasrurian.”
Later the protesters met with the District Police Officer Shahid Iqbal to take action against Mr Alvi as the government had imposed a ban on him during Muharram.
People stage protest against police: The residents of Uggoki staged a demonstration against the rising incidents of robberies in the area. They chanted slogans against the police, said sources on Thursday.
Councilors Muhammad Zakariya, Muhammad Boota, Rao Sabir Khan, Muhammad Hanif, Ms Munawar Sultana, Shuakat Dogar, Ziaur-Rehamn, Zaheerud-Din Khan, Muhammad Riaz led the procession. Addressing the demonstrators Councilor Muhammad Zakariya said, “The Police has failed to control crime and the law and order situation has spoiled the business of the people.” The demonstrators later dispersed on assurance from the police authorities to maintain law and order.
