Main Muharram procession ends peacefully

KARACHI: The main Muharram procession covering a distance of six kilometres terminated peacefully on Thursday.

Several big rallies from various localities of Karachi gathered at the Guru Mandir roundabout and formed the main procession that terminated at Imambargah Hussanian-Iranian in Kharadar. “The procession remained peaceful throughout,” Sindh Inspector General Syed Kamal Shah told Daily Times.

Mr Shah said police and Rangers were deployed along the route while surveillance cameras and helicopters were used to ensure the safety of thousand’s of mourners.
