CS orders forestation for New Murree
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Rasool has directed the New Murree Developmental Authority (NMDA) to start forestation as a first step to develop the New Murree.
The chief secretary chaired a meeting on Monday which was attended by the Finance, Housing, Tourism, Planning & Development secretaries and the NMDA director general. The meeting was informed that the master plan of New Murree would be ready within a few months. Mr Rasool directed that the plan should not harm trees and the overall beauty of the area.
He directed the NMDA to implant new species of trees and ornamental plants besides traditional trees in and around New Murree to make it a model environmental city. He directed that the new and old Murree be supplied with Sui gas. “This will be a major step in making Murree a resort and will save forests because trees will not be cut for fuel,” he said. staff report
