Former corps commander made VC of Peshawar Varsity
PESHAWAR: Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, who is also the University of Peshawar Chancellor, has appointed former Peshawar corps commander Mumtaz Gul as the new vice chancellor, sources told Daily Times on Saturday.
Sources said an official notification was expected soon because current Vice Chancellor Syed Zulfiqar Gillani’s term in office expired on Saturday. Mr Gul had earlier served as corps commander of Peshawar and as the Federal Public Service Commission chairman. However, Peshawar University Teachers Association President Arbab Khan Afridi appealed to the governor to appoint a senior university teacher as vice chancellor instead. He said it would prove beneficial to the university. —Staff Report
