Indo-Pak body formed against large dams

KARACHI: The 6th joint convention of the Pakistan-India People’s Forum for Peace and Democracy here on Saturday formed the Alliance for People’s Rights Movement in South Asia, to coordinate endeavours against large dams being made in both India and Pakistan. Sanjay Sanghvi was elected coordinator for India and Baseer Naveed for Pakistan. The movement will oppose construction of the Kalabagh Dam, Narmada Dam, Lyari Expressway, Greater Thal Canal and privatization of irrigation water at the behest of the World Bank. —Staff Report
