Champions lined up for Hong Kong tournament

HONG KONG: Four of the biggest names in women’s tennis, Maria Sharapova, Amelie Mauresmo, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Venus Williams have been confirmed for an annual invitational in Hong Kong next year, organisers said.

The four will be among eight women competing for the sixth Watson’s Water Champions Challenge in January. The other four competitors in the women’s competition will be announced later. Wimbledon champion Sharapova, US Open champ Kuznetzova, world number one Mauresmo and Williams will meet in singles and doubles contests over the four-day event at the Victoria Park Tennis Stadium. afp
