Afghan repatriation resumes today
QUETTA: The voluntary repatriation of Afghan refugees would resume from Balochistan Monday (today) and 0.4 million refugees were likely to leave Pakistan this year, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Country Representative Guenet Gebre-Christos said on Friday.
Ms Gebre-Christos told reporters that the repatriation would start from today after four months. The UNHCR suspended its service in most parts of Afghanistan in November when one of its officials was killed in Ghazni. She said the repatriation decision was taken after the Afghan authorities assured the UN workers’ safety. —Staff Report
