Geo Television comes to US

WASHINGTON: Geo TV came to North America this week with round-the-clock programmes beamed at viewers via satellite.

By way of promotion, the programmes are being offered free of charge for the time being on channel 620 on the Dish Network. Anyone who already has a dish antenna can access the new channel whose arrival has been eagerly awaited by Pakistani-Americans. A Geo spokesman said eventually the monthly charge for the service will be $14.99. The arrival of Geo poses a serious challenge to Prime TV whose programming has left a great deal to be desired. —Khalid Hasan
