50 Bangladeshi fishermen missing in bay storm

COX’S BAZAR: At least 50 fishermen were missing and feared drowned after 15 boats capsized during a storm in the Bay of Bengal off Bangladesh’s St Martin’s island, officials said on Friday. St Martins is Bangladesh’s only coral island, 550 km from capital Dhaka. Moulana Saifullah, a community leader said about 25 other fishermen swam ashore or were picked up by rescuers. A search for the missing people was continuing, he said. —Reuters
