Pakistan will have minimum deterrence
WASHINGTON: Commenting on the successful test-firing of the new Shaheen II ballistic missile, Pakistan Muslim League leaders of the US chapter said on Friday that it amply reflected that Pakistan fully understood its firm resolve to maintain minimum credible deterrence. They said that it also put at rest the opposition propaganda to the contrary. The joint statement was issued by Malik Sikandar Aziz, Mian Zakir Naseem and Afzal Gulbahar.
The Government was not unmindful of the vital national security requirements and its commitment in this regard was second to none, said the Muslim League leaders. Those who took joy and pride in promoting the bogey of unwarranted apprehensions, must be feeling immensely jolted, the leaguers said while referring to the wild opposition propaganda that the government had resolved to roll back the missile program and that it lacked commitment to national integrity and sovereignty.
The Muslim League leaders said that Pakistan was a peace-loving nation, but it could not remain oblivious to its national security requirements. They said that the government’s commitment in this regard could not be challenged.
They congratulated the government and the Pakistani scientists who went ahead with the successful test-fire of Shaheen II, which they called a strategic leap forward. —APP
