Brig Attaullah made honorary colonel

LAHORE: Brig Firzok Attaullah was installed as honorary colonel of the battalion of the Baloch Regiment, popularly known as the ‘first to fight’, at an impressive ceremony held here on Friday.

Lt Gen S.P. Shahid, Colonel Commandant, Baloch Regiment, who was chief guest on the occasion and Brig Ayub Uppal, Centre Commandant, Baloch Regimental Centre, pinned the badges of rank onto the shoulders of Brig Attaullah and presented him with the regimental beret.

Speaking at the occasion, Lt Gen Shahid said the armed forces remained dedicated to the sacred causes of defence, security, and sovereignty of the motherland, and that all their efforts were directed to this end. He reminded officers and jawans that the profession they had chosen was not only a sacred trust, it was also full of challenges, for which they must be prepared at all times.

Eulogising the performance of the battalion, the Colonel Commandant said that although it was young in age, the history of the unit was replete with marvellous deeds of valour.

He congratulated Brig Attaullah on his appointment as honorary colonel of such a fine outfit of Pakistan Army, and expressed confidence that he would guide the battalion to even greater heights in the field of professional excellence.

Brig Attaullah recalled his association with the unit and appreciated the services rendered by it to the country’s defence. He thanked the officers and jawans for choosing him as their colonel and assured them that he would try to meet the expectations and confidence they had invested in him. —APP
