Rs 20.3m given out to the poor

LAHORE: Punjab Zakat and Ushr Minister Khadim Hussain Wattoo disbursed funds amounting Rs 20.3 million to deserving people under the rehabilitation package in Shahdara and Ravi Town on Friday.

Punjab Tourism Minister Aslam Iqbal, Parliamentary Environment Secretary Saadia Humayun, senior officials of the department and district heads were present on. Mr Wattoo said the government was working for public welfare at all levels. “The government has aimed to make a society in which people will become zakat donors from zakat recipients,” he said. —APP
