NAB asked for list of ex-MPA’s assets

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Tuesday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to produce the list of moveable and immovable property of Chaudhry Riaz Ahmed, a former provincial parliamentarian from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) within 14 days, so that his property can be confiscated.

NAB has filed a reference against Ch Ahmed for corruption and amassing wealth beyond his known sources of income. He managed to flee the country and was declared an absconder by the court.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) had granted Ch Ahmed interim bail until October 14. However, the accused could not appear before the court on the day of the hearing. The court adjourned the hearing of the corruption reference against Ch Ahmed until November 22.

Meanwhile, another accountability court adjourned the hearing of the case of corruption and amassing wealth against Shafi Sahwani former chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) till November 20. The same court also adjourned the hearing of a corruption reference against Nadeem Akbar Malik, the former deputy director CDA till today (Wednesday).
