Jamaat-e-Islami’s Punjab Shoora elected

LAHORE: Elections for the Jamaat-i-Islami’s (JI) Punjab Shoora, in which 9,435 voters elected 60 members through secret balloting, were completed on Monday. JI Nazim Intekhab and JI Punjab Secretary General Syed Waqas Jaffri announced the election results and said the shoora would work till 2006.
Mr Intekhab announced that names of Mian Maqsood Ahmed, Dr Mansoor Ali, Professor Usman Ghani, Hafiz Sultan Butt, Abdul Hafeez Ahmed and Shahid Aslam Malik as the elected members in Lahore. From Islamabad, Tahir Khan, Gul Andaaz Abbasi, Khaleelur Rehman Chishti and Syed Muhammad Bilal were elected. From Rawalpindi, Raja Muhammad Zaheer Khan, Muhammad Abbas Butt, Dr Muhammad Kamal, Mulana Abdul Khaleel Naqshbandi and Syed Aziz Hamid succeeded.
Nasir Nasir Iqbal Khan was elected from Attock, Mulana Abdul Sattar from from Chakwal, Muhammad Ehsanullah Butt from Jhelum, Javed Iqbal Cheema, Malik Masoodul Hassan Sajra, Dr Mubasher Ahmed Siddiqi, Malik Mahmood Hussain from Sargodha.
