Bureaucratic reshuffle in Punjab expected
By Khawaja Naseer
LAHORE: A reshuffle in the senior Punjab bureaucracy is expected at the end of this month, sources in the Punjab government told Daily Times on Monday.
Punjab Home Secretary Brigadier (r) Ijaz Shah, Irrigation Secretary Major (r) Javed Majeed and Services Secretary Anwar Khan are likely to be transferred.
According to the sources, three senior bureaucrats of BS-20 serving the Punjab government as officers on special duty (OSD) might replace the three secretaries, but the Establishment Division is also expected to push for the positions.
Former Punjab health secretary Hassan Waseem Afzal of the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) course is likely to replace Mr Shah, sources said. Mr Shah, who has completed a three-year contract as the Punjab home secretary, might get a key position in the Anti-Narcotics Force. Sources said OSD Sheikh Habibur Rehman or Punjab Forest Secretary Sajid Hussain Chattha are favourites for the irrigation secretary position. A former diplomat, Salman Ghani, is also learnt to have reported to the ED and he could be a potential candidate for the irrigation secretary’s office.
Former Punjab services secretary Saeed Khan, a BS-20 OSD in the Punjab government, might replace Mr Anwar Khan who is likely to be assigned some other administrative responsibility in the Punjab government.
