Cooperation in IT and trade will improve Pak-US ties, says CM
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said on Monday that Pakistan and the United States enjoy cordial relations and their cooperation in information technology, scientific research and trade would strengthen the existing friendly ties between the two countries.
He was talking to a delegation led by William H Lash, US assistant secretary of commerce, international trade and administration department, at the Chief Minister’s House here. The chief minister said with the implementation of the new industrial policy, the process of industrialisation would be further accelerated and the country’s economy would be strengthened.
He said the present government was consolidating and encouraging the private sector to eliminate unemployment and bring economic prosperity in the country.
He said Pakistan has a highly conducive atmosphere for international trade and foreign investment.
Earlier, addressing a meeting of the PML-QA, the chief minister said a close liaison with the masses would be established after the party’s reorganisation. He said the reorganisation would also ensure the masses’ participation in implementing the government policies and realisation of all welfare-oriented projects. He said the government was vigorously pursuing the policy of introducing comprehensive reforms in agriculture, education, irrigation, housing, industries and other national development sectors.
The chief minister said all departments would be streamlined and new targets would be set for the implementation of development projects.
