Senate body for ensuring sanctity of Holy Quran
ISLAMABAD: The Senate’s sub-standing committee on Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr on Wednesday discussed a private member bill seeking an amendment to the Publication of the Holy Quran (Elimination of Printing Errors)(Amendment Bill), 2004.
The sub-committee met in Parliament House with Senator Hidayatullah Shah in the chair.
The committee stressed the need to maintain the sanctity of the Holy Quran and asked the government to enact a comprehensive law to dispose the damaged copies of the Holy Quran.
The mover of the bill, Senator Dr Kauser Firdaus highlighted the objectives of the bill and said the bill had been introduced to preserve the sanctity of the Holy Quran and ensure proper disposal of the damaged copies. The committee members said a mechanism was needed to ensure proper disposal. online
