LHC summons Sialkot DPO and DCO

LAHORE: Mr Justice Sheikh Abdul Rashid of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday summoned the Sialkot district coordination officer (DCO) and district police officer (DPO) on June 3 to explain why they stopped a recreational fair.

Petitioner Nazim said that the court had allowed him to set up the fair in Sialkot but the DCO issued an order to dismantle the festival. He said that the police had raided the fair and ‘vandalised’ stalls.

DPO Usama Mumtaz Raja apologised to the court and said that he gave the order because people were gambling at the fair.

The court was informed that DCO Tahir Raza Naqvi has been transferred and appointed registrar of the Punjab Housing Society. The court issued a repeated show cause notice to Naqvi and Raja for June 3.
