5 killed in blast, shootout in Held Kashmir
JAMMU: One person was killed and eight were seriously injured in a bomb blast on Tuesday triggered by suspected militants in Held Kashmir border town of Rajouri, a police spokesman said.
He said militants planted an explosive device inside a sweet shop in a crowded market place.
Three people were in critical condition and all the injured were being treated at Rajouri’s hospital.
Security forces have cordoned off the area to search for the culprits. In another incident, four militants were killed by the army in the Kishtwar area of Doda, 185 kilometres north of Jammu, a defence spokesman said. They were killed after firing on troops carrying out a search, the official said, adding that the firefight was continuing. —AFP
