Punjab PA meets on 21st

LAHORE: On the opposition parties’ requisition, Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Chaudhry Afzal Sahi summoned the PA 7th session on March 21 at 3.00pm in the assembly chamber.

The opposition parties submitted the requisition after PML-N parliamentary leader Rana Sanaullah’s harassment some days back. The opposition parties also submitted privilege and adjournment motions on the subject. They also decided to demonstrate after the assembly session in case of the government’s failure to take up their motions out of turn and clarify the government’s position in this regard.

PML-N’s Sheikh Amjad Aziz told Daily Times that he personally submitted a call attention notice on the arrest, torture and release of Mr Sanaullah. He demanded for Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi to come to the house to reply the call attention notice. He told the speaker that being the house’s custodian, he should hold an open debate in the house on the adjournment motions sought to be moved by the opposition members.

He said despite the injuries, Mr Sanaullah must attend the assembly session to inform the house as to why he had been torture by the secret agencies’ officials. Mr Aziz said if ruling party failed to provide justice to Mr Sanaullah, they would be compelled to protest. —Staff Report
