ISLAMABAD: A prisoner who was recently shifted to Pakistan from Guantanamo Bay has died in Adiala Jail because of a mysterious disease, sources told Daily Times.
The prisoner, Habibur Rehman of Dera Ghazi Khan, was apprehended by US forces in Afghanistan in 2002 on charges of participating in attacks on US forces in Afghanistan. He was kept in Pul Charkhi Jail for three months, from where he was shifted to Guantanamo Bay for further interrogation about his colleagues who were still in Afghanistan and closely linked to Al Qaeda leaders, sources said. Rehman was interrogated by officers of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for more than one and a half years and then brought to Pakistan along with six other prisoners, sources said.
