Police raid Saddar electronics market, make arrests
KARACHI: The police moved on Sunday against those involved in the selling and purchasing of snatched mobile phones.
They raided shops in the Karachi Electronic Market in Saddar and detained more than 20 persons, including the 12 shopkeepers. The police took 220 mobile phones from different shops for verification. According to police sources, dozens of police mobiles of the Preedy Police Station and the Nabi Buksh police station raided the electronic market and the police detained more than 20 persons.
The DSP investigation zone 1, Saddar Town, DSP Nazir Mir Behar, said that police detained at least 12 shopkeepers and some other persons suspected of selling snatched/ stolen mobile phones.
He said that police had chalked out a plan to control mobile-phone snatchings and from Tuesday they would start checking documents of all mobile phones for sale in the shops. staff report
